SeaLegacy combines decades of experience in conservation, photography, and communications, with the latest digital and social technologies, to build a healthy future for our oceans.
Founded by Paul Nicklen and Cristina Mittermeier in 2014, SeaLegacy is a collective of some of the most experienced and renowned photographers, filmmakers and storytellers working on behalf of our oceans.
Eighty per cent of fisheries are overfished or collapsing. Pollution is choking sea birds, seals, and whales. Vast areas of reef are dying rapidly, and species from plankton to polar bears face steep decline.
The solutions are already out there. Fisherfolks are becoming ocean farmers. Scientists are growing new reefs, and a growing number of communities are protecting their oceans for the generations to come.
Healthy oceans absorb carbon from the atmosphere and help reduce the impact of climate change, and when we work together, against all odds, vibrant life will flourish.
From the air we breathe to the food we eat, to the climate we live in, we all depend on our oceans.
